Subject: Pub macros for SAIL letterhead

Dear Sir:

Here is a sample of a computer-generated letter. To try it out,
copy this file (SAILET.LES[UP,DOC]) into your area and Pub it.

The SAILET.PUB file sets up the letterhead and defines fonts 1-6, so
if you wish to define any more, they should be numbered 7 or higher.
It also turns on "αα" and "α%", so if you want to print either of those
symbols be sure to precede them with an "αα".

Fonts 1-3 are Baskerville light, %2italic, %1and %3bold%1, so you can
spice up your letter with suitable font switches. There is also a macro
for printing special headings:

.cb "This prints a centered, boldface heading"

Note that if you don't set the date (per top line of source file), it
defaults to the date you Pub it. After the "require" statement, it starts
in NOFILL mode but automatically switches to FILL mode (so as to justify
the text) after the first blank line.
%2If the name and address get run together, it is because you foolishly
put a blank line just after the "require" statement.%1

The following macro prints a signature line. You may omit the third
parameter (the title) if you wish.

.signed Good luck, Les Earnest, PUBlicist
